Photo reveals
Instant or delayed photo reveal: what works for your event?
Compare instant and delayed event photo reveals. Understand how closing time, an additional delay and gallery visibility work in Occur.
At a glance
An instant reveal makes uploaded photos available to authorized viewers during the event. A delayed reveal holds them until after the event, with an optional additional delay. Gallery visibility separately determines who can view them.
The moment people see their photos changes the experience of a shared camera. An instant reveal makes the album part of the celebration. A delayed reveal gives everyone something to discover afterward, closer to waiting for a roll of film.
Neither choice is right for every event. Start with the role you want the album to play, then check the closing time and viewing permissions.
Choose instant reveal for an album during the event
With instant reveal, uploaded photos can appear while the event is still happening for people allowed to view them. That can suit a trip or casual gathering where checking the album is part of the fun.
Instant does not mean that a photo can appear before it uploads, or that every guest automatically has gallery access. Connectivity and the organizer's visibility setting still apply.
Choose delayed reveal for a shared discovery afterward
A delayed reveal holds photos until after the event. Occur also lets the organizer choose an additional delay. This can fit a wedding or party where you want taking pictures to be part of the evening and looking through them to happen later.
Tell guests the plan before they start. If people expect to see a photo immediately, a hidden album may look like a problem rather than an intentional part of the camera experience.
Treat the closing time as a camera setting too
In Occur, the event opens when it is created, and joined guests can use the camera until the event closes. A reveal after the event depends on that closing time, plus any additional delay you selected.
Check the date and time carefully, especially when a party continues after midnight. Leave room for the moments you want guests to capture. Test the settings in a sample event before relying on them for an important occasion.
Choose who can view the gallery separately
Reveal timing answers when photos become available. Visibility answers who can view them. Occur lets the organizer make the gallery available to guests or restrict photo viewing to the host.
A delayed reveal does not override host-only visibility. If your plan is for everyone to discover the album afterward, check both settings and explain the arrangement to guests. Keep the invitation within the intended group.
Style the album and plan your downloads
Original, Vintage and Black & White are separate from reveal timing. Occur preserves the originals and applies the selected style when photos are viewed or downloaded. You can choose the look that suits the event without making it the reason for a particular reveal schedule.
Once photos are revealed and visible to you, save the photos you want to keep. Storage is temporary. Ask browser and App Clip guests to finish pending uploads, because revealing an album does not upload originals that are still waiting on a guest's device.
